The Euphyllia Torch Coral is a large polyp stony (LPS) coral, often referred to as Trumpet Coral or Pom-Pom Coral. It has long and flowing polyps with single rounded tips which are visible throughout the day and night, hiding its branching skeletal base most of the time. It may be brown or green with yellow on the tips of its tentacles. The Torch coral is one of the most unique and flowing coral you can get for your reef tank! With its long extended polyps and bright colors, it will make your eyes wander! Provide plenty of room between the Euphyllia Torch Coral and other sessile animals, since at night, its sweeper tentacles can extend up to several inches from its base and sting other coral species. The Torch Coral requires moderate to high light with moderate flow, under the correct conditions the Torch will split its heads to grow!

Euphyllia glabrescens is a species of large-polyped stony coral belonging to the family Caryophylliidae. Its common name is the torch coral due to its long sweeper tentacles tipped with potent cnidocytes. Euphyllia glabrescens is a colonial coral with a phaceloid formation of corallites 20-30 millimeters (0.8 – 1.2 inches) in diameter and spaced 15-30 millimeters (0.6 – 1.2 inches) apart. Walls are thin, with sharp edges. Polyps have large tubular tentacles with knob-like tips. It can be a number of colors, and is often bicolored with contrasting tentacles and polyp tips.
